About Us The client is a well-established public practice accounting firm providing taxation, accounting, and business advisory services to a diverse client base, including individuals, small to medium-sized businesses, trusts, and self-managed superannuation funds (SMSFs). We are currently seeking a motivated Intermediate Tax Accountant to join our growing team. This role is ideal for an accountant with solid public practice experience who is looking to further develop their technical tax skills and progress their career. About the Role Reporting to the Senior Accountant or Manager, you will be responsible for preparing tax compliance work, assisting with financial statements, and supporting client advisory tasks. You will gain exposure to a wide range of tax matters while working closely with senior team members. Key Responsibilities Prepare income tax returns for individuals, companies, trusts, partnerships, and SMSFs. Assist in the preparation of financial statements in accordance with accounting standards. Prepare Business Activity Statements (BAS) and Instalment Activity Statements (IAS). Assist with tax compliance tasks including Division 7A, CGT, and small business concessions. Communicate with clients to obtain information and respond to basic queries. Assist in the preparation of workpapers and supporting documentation. Liaise with the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) where required under supervision. Support senior accountants and managers with tax planning and advisory work. Ensure accuracy, compliance, and adherence to deadlines. Maintain client records and support ongoing file management improvements. Essential Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Commerce, or related field. 2–4 years’ experience in Australian public practice accounting. Working towards or planning to commence CA or CPA qualification. Strong understanding of Australian tax legislation and compliance requirements. Experience with accounting software such as Xero or MYOB. Good attention to detail and willingness to learn. Strong communication and time management skills. Desirable Exposure to SMSFs, trusts, and small business clients. Experience using practice management software such as APS, XPM, or similar. Understanding of basic tax planning concepts.
