Job Title: Accounting & Commercial Manager Location: Perth, Western Australia Position Summary Our client is seeking an experienced Accounting & Commercial Manager to lead the finance and commercial functions for a mining operation in Western Australia. This role combines financial stewardship with commercial oversight, ensuring robust financial reporting, governance, budgeting, cost control, and commercial support to site operations. Working closely with both the General Manager and CFO, the successful candidate will provide critical financial insights, commercial analysis, and operational support to drive business performance, compliance, and sustainable growth. Reporting functionally to the CFO and working closely with the General Manager, this role serves as the key link between site operations and corporate finance. Key Responsibilities Financial Accounting & Governance Lead all financial accounting activities, including month-end and year-end reporting. Ensure compliance with accounting policies, IFRS standards, and internal financial controls. Prepare statutory reports and support external audits and regulatory requirements. Manage treasury activities, taxation compliance, and audit coordination. Provide accurate and timely financial information and analysis to site and corporate stakeholders. Coordinate closely with corporate finance teams to ensure alignment with group reporting requirements. Supervise and develop the site accounting team. Commercial Management Develop and implement commercial budgets, cost control systems, and financial performance monitoring frameworks. Monitor operational costs, budget variances, forecasts, and productivity metrics. Drive financial and commercial performance through insightful analysis and reporting. Support procurement activities, contract administration, and commercial compliance processes. Assist the General Manager in commercial negotiations with suppliers, contractors, customers, and service providers. Prepare, review, and manage contracts, claims, variations, tender evaluations, and commercial documentation. Support life-of-mine planning, capital projects, business case development, and investment evaluations from a commercial perspective. Coordinate annual budgeting and forecasting processes in partnership with operations and corporate finance teams. Provide commercial recommendations and strategic insights to both the GM and CFO. Business Partnership & Leadership Act as the key liaison between site operations and corporate finance. Support operational decision-making through financial modelling, cost analysis, and commercial advice. Ensure financial governance standards are maintained while supporting operational execution. Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across finance, reporting, and commercial processes. Foster strong working relationships with internal stakeholders, external auditors, consultants, contractors, and suppliers. Skills & Experience Degree qualification in Accounting, Commerce, Finance, or a related discipline. CA, CPA, or equivalent professional qualification. Significant experience in accounting, finance, and commercial management within mining, resources, heavy industry, or a similar operational environment. Strong understanding of IFRS, financial reporting, taxation, budgeting, forecasting, and internal controls. Demonstrated experience in commercial management, contract administration, procurement support, and cost control. Experience working closely with operational leadership teams in a site-based environment. Strong financial modelling, analytical, and business partnering capabilities. Proven ability to influence stakeholders across both operational and corporate functions. Excellent communication, leadership, and relationship management skills. Why This Role?
