We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Accountant to join our finance team. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with senior management, oversee financial operations, and support the continued growth and success of the business. About the Role Reporting to the Finance Manager, the Senior Accountant will be responsible for managing the company’s financial reporting, project accounting, budgeting, compliance, and financial controls. The successful candidate will provide accurate financial information and commercial insights to support operational and strategic decision-making. Key Responsibilities Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports. Oversee the month-end and year-end close processes. Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations and general ledger accounts. Manage project accounting, including work-in-progress (WIP), job costing, and profitability reporting. Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management. Monitor project costs, revenue recognition, and contract performance. Prepare BAS, payroll tax, FBT, GST, and other statutory reporting requirements. Support external audits and ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements. Maintain and strengthen internal financial controls and accounting processes. Analyse financial performance and provide recommendations to improve profitability and operational efficiency. Mentor and support junior finance team members. Liaise with project managers, commercial teams, and external stakeholders. Essential Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Commerce. CPA or CA qualification. Minimum 5 years’ accounting experience, preferably within the construction, engineering, or infrastructure sector. Strong knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards and taxation requirements. Experience with project accounting, job costing, and contract reporting. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills. Experience using accounting or ERP systems such as MYOB, Xero, SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar. Excellent analytical, organisational, and problem-solving skills. Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities. Desirable Experience with construction accounting software and project management systems. Knowledge of revenue recognition for construction contracts. Experience with subcontractor payment processes and retention accounting.
