About the Opportunity The role of the SETS Youth Program Officer is to develop and implement programs and activities for young people aged 12 to 24 years from migrant, refugee or humanitarian backgrounds which will enhance their sense of belonging and increase levels of connectivity with the wider community. This is a fixed-term position with possibility of extension. BENEFITS: Competitive annual salary plus super Not-for-profit salary packaging options up to $15,900 for general living expenses and $2,650 for entertainment benefits Free Employee Assistance Program (EAP) Diverse and supportive team environment(Including MSC Social Club) Opportunities for growth and development Beny App access – providing thousands of exclusive perks and insights to enhance physical, mental, social, and financial wellbeing Duties Include but are not limited to Develops, implements and maintains a range of programs and activities (sporting, cultural, arts, etc.) for young people from refugee backgrounds Develops and implements a program to assist young people from refugee and CaLD backgrounds to obtain Australian citizenship status Recruits and registers young people for activities and programs Liaises with parents and carers of young people to ensure their full understanding of activities and programs their children are participating in and that appropriate permissions have been gained Establishes and maintains cooperative and collaborative working relationships with other service providers to ensure efficient and relevant referrals of clients between organisations and minimum duplication of services Coordinates, plans, reports and monitors SETS Youth Homework Hut (during school terms). Mentors, supports and directs Homework Hut Facilitator. Assists with recruiting, training and supporting Homework Hut volunteers, in addition to communicating with parents/guardians of Homework Hut students. Occasionally assists in the organisation and running of residential camps for young people from refugee backgrounds Prepare reports which meet the requirements of the funding organisation as well as MSC and maintain accurate and up-to-date records relating to clients Ensure support provided are in accordance of funding guidelines Actively participate and contribute in continuous improvement processes Compliance and Quality Management: Complies with relevant Acts, Regulations, standards, policies, procedures, protocols, funding contractual requirements etc associated with the role. Be responsible for ensuring, as far as practicable, the provision of a safe working environment. SELECTION CRITERIA Essential Criteria: · Tertiary qualifications in social work, social welfare disciplines or substantial experience in the delivery of community services Significant experience working with young people and children from refugee and/or CaLD backgrounds. High degree of cultural competence and an understanding of the refugee experience. Proven track record in developing and organising successful programs, events and camps. Excellent networking and liaison skills and the ability to work cooperatively with other organisations. Self-starter with excellent program management skills including timely reporting and accurate data collection and entry. Demonstrated excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communications skills. Good knowledge of the multicultural and community service sector. Ability to work effectively in a small team environment. Commitment to providing quality customer services. WA motor vehicle driving license and access to a suitable vehicle.
