As a Youth Engagement Officer, your role will go beyond basketball — focusing on connecting with young people at risk, promoting positive behaviour, and creating a safe, welcoming space for our young people. You will primarily be involved in the delivery of the Slam and Jam program which involves engaging young people through basketball, games and other sporting activities. You will be instrumental in creating a safe place where young people can connect and be included. Your role will involve transporting young people, cooking meals, providing social-emotional support and managing complex behaviours. You will also be required to also undertake admin tasks such as shift notes, incident reports and data entry. There is the opportunity to pick up casual shifts at our GigSpace in Leederville and our Belmont Youth Centre. You’ll be great in this role if you… Have a qualification of Youth Work, Education, Community Work, Social Work or or other relevant discipline Can demonstrate the ability to engage with young people and work collaboratively as part of a team Are aware of and can adhere to the Youth Work Code of Ethics. Have skills in managing complex behaviours and conflict resolution. Current Can obtain National Police Clearance and Working with Children Check.
