About the Opportunity The Team Leader of MSC Housing Services is responsible for the leadership, coordination, and delivery of community housing or homelessness support services within a client-centred, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive framework. The role oversees a team of housing workers and volunteers, ensuring high-quality client support, service compliance, and strong stakeholder collaboration. This position aligns with WA government expectations for housing service leadership, particularly in managing teams who deliver tenancy support and housing outcomes, and with sector homelessness team leader roles that coordinate complex outreach and housing responses. MSC seeks a flexible and values-driven professional who can adapt working hours as required, is committed to ongoing professional development, and consistently prioritises safe work practices. Responsibilities: Service Coordination & Delivery · Lead the delivery of community housing, homelessness, tenancy support or case management services, ensuring alignment with program requirements and service standards. · Oversee intake, assessment, case planning, outreach responses and tenancy sustainment activities, consistent with Housing First and trauma‑informed approaches. · Contribute to service design, implementation and evaluation to enhance outcomes for clients with complex needs. · Manage a small caseload where required, particularly for high‑risk or complex clients. Staff Leadership & Supervision · Provide supervision, mentoring, and leadership to housing staff, volunteers as seen in established homelessness team leader roles. · Coordinate volunteers’ rosters, housing staff workloads, performance plans and professional development opportunities. · Support a positive, inclusive, strengths‑based team culture aligned with organisational values. · Participate in staff recruitment and induction processes. Client Support · Provide expert guidance on tenancy maintenance, arrears management, and property standards, consistent with community housing expectations. Compliance, Reporting & Quality Management · Ensure services comply with relevant legislation, service agreements, program guidelines, and organisational policies. · Prepare reports for funding bodies, including Department of Housing and Works six monthly reporting requirements, KPIs and internal management reporting. · Monitor and report critical incidents, risk issues, grievances or client safety concerns. · Maintain accurate, quality case notes and data entry within required systems including SHIP, consistent with WA sector expectations. · Provide services and maintain written program documentation as outlined in service policy and standards guidelines. · Complies with relevant Acts, Regulations, standards, policies, procedures, protocols, funding contractual requirements etc associated with the role. · Be responsible for ensuring, as far as practicable, the provision of a safe working environment. Stakeholder & Sector Engagement · Build and maintain effective relationships with homelessness services, community housing providers, government agencies, mental health and AOD services. · Represent the organisation in interagency meetings, collaborative working groups and community networks Continuous Improvement & Professional Development · Lead or contribute to quality improvement initiatives, program reflection, audits and service reviews. · Maintain professional knowledge of sector reforms, housing policy, tenancy legislation and evidence‑based practice. · Participate in required training and maintain professional registration where applicable. Other: · Undertake other duties as directed by the Supervisor/Team Leader, Manager, Executive Manager and/or the Chief Executive Officer. Essential Criteria · Relevant tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Community Services, Human Services or related field. · Demonstrated experience in a leadership or coordination role within community housing, homelessness, or human services programs. · Strong understanding of tenancy management, homelessness interventions, Housing First principles and trauma‑informed practice. · Experience supervising staff, including performance management, rostering, coaching and training. · High‑level skills in case management, client assessment, safety planning and responding to complex needs. · Excellent written communication skills, including report writing skills, data interpretation and KPI reporting. · Demonstrated ability to build partnerships with internal and external stakeholders. · Knowledge of the WA human services, community housing and homelessness systems. · Competency in data systems, including SHIP. · Specialist expertise in one or more areas of professional practice. Highly Desirable: · Postgraduate qualification in a specialist area (e.g., housing, emergency accommodation services, leadership). · Eligibility for AASW/APS/AHPRA membership. · Experience working with people from Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CaLD) communities. · Fluency in language other than English.
