SES-1 – Total Remuneration Package $232,790 - $298,488 The Australia New Zealand Policing Advisory Agency (ANZPAA) is seeking a highly experienced and influential leader to join our Executive Leadership Team as Director, ANZPAA . Established in 2007, ANZPAA plays a pivotal role in shaping the future of policing across Australia and New Zealand. In partnership with all policing jurisdictions and key stakeholders, ANZPAA develop forward‑looking insights, policies, and collaborative approaches to ensure policing is prepared for emerging challenges. Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), the Director leads a high‑performing directorate delivering cross‑jurisdictional policy, strategic advice, and knowledge products aligned to the ANZPAA Strategic Plan and the priorities set by Police Commissioners across all jurisdictions. The Director is also accountable for creating a positive culture and modelling ANZPAA's values and fostering an open and inclusive environment that encourages continuous improvement and innovation across all work outputs and processes. About the Role This is an influential leadership role shaping the next generation of policing capability, innovation, and collaboration across Australia and New Zealand. As Director, you will: Provide high-level strategic leadership and contribute to whole‑of‑organisation priorities as part of the Executive Leadership Team. Deliver contemporary, evidence‑based policy advice on emerging and future‑focused policing issues. Lead the development of complex funding proposals, business plans, and high-impact work programs. Build a culture of trust, transparency, and continuous improvement across the directorate. Strengthen relationships with jurisdictions, law enforcement partners, academia, and industry. Represent ANZPAA and the CEO in internal and external forums at a senior level. Ensure that directorate outputs are high quality, timely, and aligned to strategic direction. About You You are a seasoned executive leader with: A demonstrated record of achievement at an Executive or Senior Management level dealing with complex issues in a law enforcement environment. Strong strategic thinking, analytical capability, and policy development expertise, with awareness of emerging issues and opportunities facing Australia and New Zealand policing. Experience navigating complex operating environments and providing authoritative policy advice. An ability to build strong partnerships with diverse stakeholders, including at Commissioner and Executive levels. Outstanding communication, negotiation, and relationship‑building capabilities. A track record of fostering ethical leadership, high performance, and team cohesion. Relevant tertiary qualifications (or equivalent experience) are highly desirable. Special Requirements and Employment Terms Applicants must be an Australian Citizen or New Zealand Citizen (who have unrestricted rights to employment in Australia) and must undergo and maintain a National Security Clearance at the level determined by the CEO or successfully obtain a Citizenship waiver.
