Corrections Victoria is responsible for the implementation of policies, programs and services that ensure the safe and secure containment of prisoners, and that seek to rehabilitate offenders by addressing the underlying causes of offending behaviour. Corrections Victoria also sets strategy, policy and standards for the management of the state's system of correctional facilities whilst also developing programs for the management and rehabilitation of prisoners and the community-based supervision of offenders. As part of the CJS group, the Dame Phyllis Frost Centre (DPFC) is a 694 bed maximum-security facility for female offenders located within the West Metropolitan Region, Department of Justice. About the Role: At the DPFC, each Justice Officer role specialises in one of four streams – Records/Property, Human Resources, Finance/Stores and Administration. Over time, and with appropriate support and training, Justice Officers may be rotated between these streams to provide career enhancement opportunities to those staff, and operational flexibility to the prison. Some of your duties will include: Providing support and assistance to the Vocational Services Manager. Providing a broad range of office management and administrative functions, including the maintenance of registers, preparation of presentations and reports. Liaising with senior managers, staff members, other departments, agency representatives, and community groups, providing information and assistance and/or referral to appropriate staff members. Justice Officers may be rotated between streams to provide career enhancement opportunities to those staff, and operational flexibility to the prison. This position will require direct prisoner contact and may involve weekend and public holiday work, remunerated in accordance with the applicable provision of the VPS Determination. About You: As our ideal candidate, you will possess: Computer literate with a working knowledge of the full range of Microsoft Windows and MS Office application suite software.
