FinXL by Randstad Digital is an established, innovative company, providing technology-enabled business solutions and consulting services across many industries. These include; Government, Telecommunications, Commercial and Finance. We currently have more than 1200 consultants assisting our clients across Australia and are continuing to grow at a rapid pace. By delivering services and implementing new systems, processes, and technology, we assist our clients in gaining competitive advantage and reaching new heights. We are looking for an HFC Architect to lead the design and delivery of next-generation Hybrid Fibre-Coaxial (HFC) and Distributed Access Architecture (DAA) solutions within a telco broadband environment. This role blends strategic planning with hands-on delivery and stakeholder management, ensuring scalable and secure access networks. You will work across architecture, engineering, operations, and CTO functions to shape and implement future-ready telco-grade broadband infrastructure. Key responsibilities: Architecture Roadmap (15%): Contribute to the development and execution of the HFC and DAA architecture roadmap. Evaluate new technologies (e.g., DOCSIS 4.0, R-PHY, virtual CCAP) to enhance telco network performance and customer experience. Align architecture strategies with business goals and emerging industry standards. Architecture Delivery (60%) Lead the design and deployment of high-impact HFC access network solutions in a telco environment. Ensure architecture aligns with enterprise standards, policy, and regulatory requirements. Manage architecture risks, dependencies, and integration challenges. Support validation, testing, and transition to operational teams for smooth rollout. Stakeholder Management (25%) Provide technical oversight and guidance to engineering and delivery teams. Work with vendors and internal teams on equipment specification, configuration, and deployment. Engage with CTO stakeholders to identify and adopt relevant technologies. Knowledge & skills required: 8 years of experience in HFC or DOCSIS-based access network architecture within a telco or broadband operator setting. Strong knowledge of DOCSIS 3.0/3.1/4.0 PHY & MAC (QAM, OFDM, bonding, QoS, BPI). Experience in HFC plant design (nodes, amplifiers, taps, ingress/egress control, PNM) Proficiency in CMTS/CCAP configuration, service flows, and IP provisioning (IPv4/IPv6). Familiarity with R-PHY protocols (R-DEPI, R-UEPI, GCP) and RPD lifecycle management. CIN/IP/MPLS network design experience, including QoS and latency/jitter management in telecommunications networks. Understanding of timing/sync protocols: IEEE 1588v2 PTP, SyncE. Experience with security frameworks (MACsec, IPsec, TLS, RADSEC, X.509 PKI) Knowledge of virtual CCAP architecture, including containerized deployments. Exposure to OSS/BSS integration (DHCP, RADIUS, NetConf/YANG, TFTP) Skilled in automation and scripting (Python, Ansible), telemetry (SNMP, Kafka, gRPC). Packet-level troubleshooting using Wireshark for DOCSIS and R-PHY protocols. Familiarity with standards from CableLabs, SCTE, IETF. Strong cross-disciplinary understanding of RF engineering and IP networking Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills If you're a forward-thinking HFC Architect with deep expertise in DOCSIS, distributed access technologies, and end-to-end network design, this is a great opportunity to shape the future of broadband infrastructure in a high-impact, innovation-driven environment.
