Lynas Rare Earths is seeking an experienced Senior Metallurgist to join our Mt Weld Operations. This is a FIFO position from Perth to our Mt Weld Operations on an 8/6 roster . Reporting to the Superintendent Process Control, you will supervise a team of Plant Metallurgists and Laboratory Technicians providing technical expertise and leadership to optimise metallurgical performance across the concentrator operations. The position focuses on improving recovery, throughput, and product quality through process optimisation, data analysis, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement initiatives. As a highly valued member of the Lynas Rare Earths team, you will: Provide metallurgical support to ensure safe, stable, and efficient plant operations Monitor plant performance and identify optimisation opportunities Support process design documentation, HAZOPs, SOPs, and operating manuals Lead continuous improvement and process optimisation initiatives Maintain metallurgical accounting systems and reporting accuracy Supervise laboratory and pilot test work activities Conduct troubleshooting, investigations, and process performance assessments Collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, and Project teams Support commissioning and project activities Mentor junior metallurgists and graduates Promote strong HSE and quality assurance standards What you will bring to the team: Degree in Metallurgy, Mineral Processing, Chemical or Process Engineering 5–8 years’ metallurgical experience within mining or mineral processing Schedule 26 (of WHS Mines Regs) Statutory Supervisor Exam achievement, or exam in progress to be completed Strong experience in flotation, hydrometallurgy, beneficiation, or rare earths processing highly regarded Experience in plant optimisation and metallurgical accounting Strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills Experience leading a team of laboratory technicians Ability to work effectively in a remote FIFO environment Strong commitment to safety and continuous improvement We welcome and encourage applications from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, the LGBTI community, mature workers, as well as candidates with culturally diverse backgrounds.
