Due to continued project growth and a strong pipeline of work, we are seeking an experienced SMP Designer to join our Melbourne engineering team . This role will support the design and development of mineral processing plants and bulk materials handling facilities , working closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams. Role Overview Reporting to the Project Lead and working closely with engineers and other discipline designers, the successful candidate will focus on preparing layouts, study drawings, and detailed 2D/3D CAD design models and construction drawings. Key responsibilities include ensuring plant designs are constructible, reliable, safe, and operable in accordance with the project design brief, scope, standards, and client requirements. Skills & Experience Required - Diploma in Mechanical Engineering (or similar) with a specialty in 2D and 3D design drafting and modelling. - Proven experience in design software. Preference is for Bentley’s MicroStation V8i, Open Buildings, or Open Plant and Navisworks; however, experience with other platforms like AutoCAD 3D is acceptable as Mincore uses multiple platforms depending on project requirements. - Ability to extract and review bill of material reports from modelling software. - Preferred 6 to 10 years of experience in bulk materials handling; however, candidates from related industries or similar environments will be considered. - Working knowledge of regulatory and industry standards, design criteria, codes, and procedures. - Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team and manage multiple tasks with minimal supervision. - Strong organizational, oral, and written communication skills. - Excellent time management and high attention to detail. - A positive attitude and a collaborative team-player mindset. - Experience resolving design issues and reviewing vendor/in-house drawings and models for compliance. - Proficiency in checking design documentation and providing accurate time estimates for deliverables to the Project Lead.
