About The Team The Community and Personal Histories Unit is an administrative release team dedicated to improving access for Aboriginal peoples and Torres Strait Islander peoples to historical government records. Your New Opportunity The Senior Program Officer will join a passionate team of researchers working in the Community and Personal Histories Unit (CPHU) within the department. The team is dedicated to improving access for Aboriginal peoples and Torres Strait Islander peoples to historical government records. Given this, the Department prioritises a trauma informed environment that promotes physical, emotional and cultural safety. What We Are Looking For A demonstrated capacity to undertake complex archival historical research and produce succinct reports. Knowledge of historical and contemporary impact of colonisation on the lived experiences of Aboriginal peoples and Torres Strait Islander peoples and ability to consult in accordance with cultural protocols. The ability to work independently, in a team environment; and cultivate productive working relationships. High level communication skills and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Ongoing reflection around working within a trauma informed framework. Ability to utilise information systems including data management and analysis. Specific Role Requirements High level research experience is highly valued. Applicants should be able to demonstrate their knowledge of the historical and contemporary impact of colonisation on the lived experiences of Aboriginal peoples and Torres Strait Islander peoples, and the significance of Indigenous knowledges and perspectives.
