What's the role? Our client, a leading clean energy investment platform, is seeking an experienced Investment Principal to lead utility-scale renewable energy investment activities across Australia and the Asia-Pacific region. This senior position will drive investment strategy, evaluate large-scale renewable projects, and manage the complete investment lifecycle from origination through to exit. The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying, structuring, and executing investments in utility-scale solar, wind, battery storage, and emerging clean energy technologies. You'll work directly with developers, institutional investors, and government stakeholders to deliver significant renewable energy projects that support Australia's net-zero objectives. You will: Lead due diligence processes for utility-scale renewable energy investments, including technical, commercial, legal, and environmental assessments Develop comprehensive investment cases and financial models for solar, wind, battery storage, and hybrid renewable projects Manage relationships with project developers, co-investors, lenders, and other key stakeholders across the renewable energy ecosystem Structure complex financing arrangements including debt, equity, and hybrid instruments for large-scale renewable developments Oversee investment committee processes, prepare detailed investment memorandums, and present recommendations to senior management and board Monitor portfolio performance, manage asset optimisation strategies, and identify value creation opportunities across existing investments Lead negotiations for power purchase agreements (PPAs), offtake contracts, and revenue optimisation strategies Conduct market analysis on renewable energy trends, policy developments, and emerging technologies to inform investment strategy Manage investment exits including trade sales, IPOs, and secondary market transactions Collaborate with legal, technical, and commercial teams to ensure successful project delivery and operational performance Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and stakeholder meetings Mentor junior investment team members and contribute to team development and knowledge sharing Your background and experience We are seeking candidates with proven experience in renewable energy investments and infrastructure finance: Minimum 8 years of investment experience with at least 5 years focused on renewable energy or infrastructure investments Proven track record in structuring and executing utility-scale renewable energy transactions Deep understanding of Australian energy markets, NEM operations, and renewable energy policy frameworks Experience with project finance, debt structuring, and institutional capital markets Strong financial modelling skills with expertise in renewable energy project economics Bachelor's degree in Finance, Engineering, Economics, or related field; MBA or CFA preferred Excellent stakeholder management and negotiation skills with experience managing complex, multi-party transactions Strong understanding of renewable energy technologies, grid integration, and energy storage solutions Experience with ESG frameworks and sustainable finance principles Proficiency in financial modelling software and investment analysis tools Knowledge of Australian regulatory environment including ARENA, CEFC, and state government renewable energy schemes Ability to travel domestically and internationally as required Professional qualifications such as CFA, CPA, or equivalent highly regarded About our client Our client is a prominent clean energy investment platform with a strong focus on accelerating Australia's renewable energy transition.
