The Opportunity This is your chance to trade electricity in the National Electricity Market (NEM) with the backing of a global trading powerhouse. You'll be responsible for spot market positions, managing risk, and capturing value in Australia's increasingly volatile and opportunity-rich power market. Working from their Melbourne office, you'll have direct access to international trading expertise and cutting-edge market intelligence. What You'll Do Execute spot electricity trades across NEM regions, managing intraday and real-time positions Analyse market fundamentals including demand forecasts, renewable generation, and system constraints Monitor and respond to price volatility, system events, and trading opportunities in real-time Manage trading risk within defined limits and contribute to portfolio optimisation strategies Develop trading strategies based on weather patterns, demand cycles, and grid dynamics Collaborate with global teams to leverage international market insights and trading methodologies Build relationships with counterparties, brokers, and market participants Contribute to market analysis and provide insights on Australian power market developments Support structured products and longer-term trading strategies as required What You Bring 3 years' experience in electricity trading, power market operations, or energy commodity trading Deep understanding of electricity markets, particularly the National Electricity Market (NEM) Strong analytical skills with ability to interpret complex market data and fundamentals Experience with trading systems and real-time market monitoring tools Risk management awareness and understanding of trading limits and controls High-pressure performance ability to make rapid decisions in volatile market conditions Strong numerical and quantitative skills with proficiency in Excel and data analysis Commercial mindset with focus on profit generation and loss mitigation Tertiary qualification in Finance, Economics, Engineering, or related field preferred Excellent communication skills for internal collaboration and external relationship management Why This Role?
