The Opportunity We are seeking an experienced Senior Energy Markets Modelling Analyst to join our dynamic team. This role is critical to our commercial success, providing sophisticated market analysis and modelling to support trading decisions, asset optimisation, and strategic planning across our renewable energy portfolio. Key Responsibilities Market Analysis & Modelling Develop and maintain complex energy market models to forecast electricity prices, demand patterns, and market dynamics Conduct detailed analysis of National Electricity Market (NEM) and New Zealand Electricity Market (NZEM) conditions Model renewable energy generation patterns and their impact on market pricing Perform scenario analysis and stress testing of market conditions Trading & Commercial Support Provide analytical support for energy trading strategies and hedge decisions Develop models to optimise renewable asset dispatch and revenue maximisation Analyse Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) structures and pricing Support contract negotiations with quantitative analysis and market insights Portfolio Optimisation Model the performance and revenue potential of existing and prospective renewable assets Conduct detailed financial modelling for wind and solar projects Analyse grid constraints, transmission losses, and their impact on asset value Support investment decisions with comprehensive market and financial analysis Strategic Planning Contribute to long-term strategic planning with market outlook analysis Develop models to assess the impact of policy changes and regulatory developments Provide insights on emerging technologies and their market implications Support business development activities with market intelligence Essential Requirements Technical Expertise Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Economics, Finance, Mathematics, or related quantitative field 5 years of experience in energy markets analysis, preferably in renewable energy Advanced proficiency in statistical modelling software (Python, R, MATLAB, or similar) Strong Excel/VBA skills and experience with databases (SQL) Knowledge of energy market fundamentals, including dispatch economics and pricing mechanisms Industry Knowledge Deep understanding of Australian NEM and/or New Zealand electricity markets Experience with renewable energy technologies (wind, solar) and their market characteristics Knowledge of energy derivatives, hedging strategies, and risk management Understanding of transmission networks and grid operations Familiarity with AEMO systems and market data sources Analytical Skills Proven track record in developing and implementing complex financial/market models Strong statistical analysis and forecasting abilities Experience with time series analysis and econometric modelling Ability to work with large datasets and extract meaningful insights Desirable Requirements Master's degree in relevant field or professional qualification (CFA, FRM) Experience with machine learning techniques applied to energy markets Knowledge of renewable energy forecasting tools and methodologies Experience in energy trading or commercial optimisation Familiarity with regulatory frameworks and policy developments Previous experience at an energy retailer, generator, or trading house Key Competencies Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities Excellent communication skills with ability to present complex analysis clearly Detail-oriented with strong quality control practices Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines Collaborative team player with stakeholder management skills Commercial acumen and business-focused thinking Benefits & Rewards Highly competitive salary with market-leading remuneration Premium health insurance and comprehensive wellness programmes Extensive professional development funding and career progression pathways Flexible hybrid working model with genuine work-life balance Direct impact on Australia's clean energy future and sustainability goals Dynamic, forward-thinking culture with cutting-edge technology and innovation To Apply: Submit your resume and cover letter online.
