The Opportunity This is a great opportunity for an experienced finance professional to step into a key EL1 role focused on internal budgets within a high-performing federal government team. You will play a central role in the internal budget cycle, working closely with senior executives and business areas to provide advice, reporting, and financial insights that support strategic decision-making. The position is offered as either a 12-month non-ongoing opportunity or a permanent Section 26 transfer, making it ideal for someone looking to take ownership while continuing to build their career in a supportive and forward-thinking environment. The Role Key responsibilities include but are not limited to: Administering the internal budget process to ensure all resource allocation decisions are well documented and correctly reflected in the FMIS Assessing resource bids and developing recommendations to assist with resource allocation decisions Resolve funding issues for projects and initiatives and provide financial reports for the projects Providing concise and targeted monthly management reports and highlighting the financial performance of the agency Advising business areas including senior executive’s financial management related matters, including but not limited to PGPA Act and accounting standards Monitoring the financial performance and advising internal stakeholders including senior executives on financial drivers and cost management options The Ideal Person You will be a high performing CA/CPA qualified Management Accountant with strong problem solving skills and the ability to navigate the ‘grey’ areas. You will work closely with your team to develop internal budgets and reporting function and ensure the business is provided with meaningful insight and analysis to facilitate decisions. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are equally important as being able to work within the team will be critical to your success in this role.
