The Australian Submarine Agency (ASA) Finance Branch supports the Chief Financial Officer and the ASA through the provision of expert strategic support and advice on the development of the acquisition, sustainment and disposal of nuclear-powered submarines (NPS). To effectively support the ASA to deliver on their outcomes, we are seeking individuals who thrive in a high paced environment, can work independently and as part of a team, and have great interpersonal skills. As an APS6 working within the ASA Finance Branch, you will strengthen your leadership and technical skills, and be provided the opportunity to support entity and program wide decision-making through the development and implementation of processes to support the provision of accurate, timely, financial information and analysis. Reporting to the relevant Assistant Director, as an APS 6 Budget Advisor you will: Evaluate, articulate, advise and support the development of the ASA's Budget Estimates, including the Nuclear Powered Submarine Program on behalf of Defence. Implement and ensure the maintenance and reporting of timely and accurate estimates in Budget systems (CBMS and TM1). Co-lead the delivery of key external budget publications, development of internal operating and capital budgets and perform mid-year reviews in consultation with ASA Finance Business Partners. Provide analysis, spot and question abnormalities, review and quality assure financial data, exercise professional judgement and skeptism to provide advice on analysis of financial performance and forecasts in order to inform insights for the CFO to ASA Committees. The ability to interpret and provide financial advice and analysis to identify trends or anomalies and present the findings to key stakeholders. Excellent written and oral communication skills to professionally engage and respond to internal and external stakeholder queries. Well-developed interpersonal and middle-level leadership skills, with demonstrated ability to develop and maintain productive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Attention to detail with well-developed organisational skills combined with an ability to multi-task and manage competing tasks, priorities and deadlines. Experience working with financial systems and well-developed Microsoft Excel skills. Qualifications or relevant experience in accounting, commence, business and/or finance is highly desirable, possession of or is progressing towards a membership of a professional body.
