The business has two removals brands, a Perth operation, a Kalgoorlie depot, adjoining warehouse properties and a shared yard. In Perth, the operational workforce includes approximately 28 to 30 blue-collar team members across drivers, packers, porters and loaders, supported by schedulers, administration and team leadership. The business services private customers, corporate accounts and network-based interstate and international work. It also operates within a compliance environment that includes Customs requirements, bonded facility processes, Main Roads Standards, environmental obligations and ISO-related procedures. The owner intends to step back from day-to-day involvement and remain available on a consultancy basis, creating a pathway for this role to take on broader responsibility over time. This role will suit someone who wants to influence operations, labour cost control, customer service, fleet use and team alignment across a small-to-medium business environment. About the opportunity This role leads the combined operations function across two removals businesses, with responsibility for warehouse activity, scheduling, dispatch, crew allocation, fleet utilisation, storage control, customer service and compliance. The role is hands-on and will require practical involvement when operational or administrative support is needed. In this role, you will: Have a direct pathway to broader business leadership Have the ability to make measurable improvements in margin, efficiency and service delivery Improve visibility of vehicle movements, scheduling decisions and operational priorities Oversee warehouse, storage, dispatch, schedulers, administration support and team leaders Support compliance, customer service and alignment between sales and operations You will manage daily work allocation, crew briefings, toolbox meetings, vehicle allocation, storage tracking and warehouse performance. You will also work with sales, administration, international operations, subcontractors, senior management and the owner to ensure customer commitments are operationally achievable. Over three to five years, the role has scope to grow into broader business leadership. About you You are a hands-on operations leader who wants more than just running the day-to-day – you want to improve systems, lead people, and have a real impact on business performance. You are likely to be an operations leader from removals, freight, transport, logistics, warehousing or another labour-intensive service environment. You understand that labour, fleet use, scheduling, storage control and job costing have a direct effect on margin and service delivery. To be successful in this role, you will ideally have: Experience managing blue-collar teams, including drivers, packers, loaders, porters or warehouse staff Experience overseeing scheduling, dispatch, fleet utilisation, crew allocation and daily operations Ability to manage labour cost against revenue, productivity, rostering and job margins Understanding of storage, inventory, goods location tracking or warehouse control Experience managing change, team consolidation or different ways of working Ability to work with sales, administration, international operations, subcontractors and management Current driver’s licence essential Ability to meet customer and company compliance requirements, including police checks where required Willingness to complete a medical and drug and alcohol test for employment Experience with KPOs linked to labour percentage, container utilisation, storage revenue, fleet use and operational transparency will be valued.
