We are currently hiring for: HDD Driller / Crew Leader – experienced operator and team lead HDD Driller HDD Offsider About the Role We're looking to establish a new drill crew, including a HDD Driller Crew Leader, a HDD Driller, and a HDD Offsider responsible for the day-to-day field execution of high-quality installations in line with Western Power standards Key Responsibilities Operate HDD rigs (Vermeer D23x30, D8x12) Interpret DBYD and service locate plans and safely expose all services Plan bore paths, set up drill sites, mix and manage drilling mud Supervise and mentor offsiders, ensuring safe work practices and clear task delegation Maintain accurate documentation (pre-starts, JHAs, bore logs, dig permits) Ensure effective communication between crew, site supervisors, and project managers Take responsibility for equipment condition, crew productivity, and site presentation Lead by example with a proactive safety-first attitude and asset protection mindset About You We’re looking for people who are: Experienced in HDD operations with Vermeer, Ditch Witch, and tracking systems (Digitrak Falcon, TKQ, Recon) Technically strong, with a Cert III in Trenchless Technology or equivalent hands-on HDD experience Safety-conscious, with a “zero asset strike” mindset and strong understanding of underground service protection Physically fit and dependable, with a can-do attitude and pride in their work Natural leaders, able to coach, support and get the best out of their crew Able to work both unsupervised and as part of a coordinated team Required Licences and Tickets Current HC/HR driver’s licence (unrestricted) Construction Blue/White Card First Aid & CPR Excavator ticket and recent VOC (or equivalent) RIICCM202D – Identify, Locate and Protect Underground Services Western Power NAC card & Cable Layers Ticket What We Offer Competitive pay and fully maintained tool-of-trade vehicle (Crew Leader role) Long-term pipeline of metro-based projects (no FIFO!)
