The Role This is a full time, 13-month contract opportunity based in the Sydney newsroom. Reporting to the Director of News and Current Affairs, the Executive Assistant will play a critical role in enabling the delivery of SBS’s journalism by providing executive and divisional support. You’ll be the central point of contact for the NACA Division, helping to ensure the smooth coordination of key initiatives, communications, events and priorities. Key responsibilities include: Managing the Director’s complex calendar, correspondence, meetings and travel (including international). Coordinating divisional communications, team meetings, and business events across NACA. Compiling agendas, taking minutes for internal meetings which include Directors and Senior Management as attendees Supporting financial administration, reporting, and expense reconciliation (using Concur). Acting as a liaison with internal stakeholders, including Board-level executives. Contributing to the EA network across SBS and stepping in to support other leaders as required. Assist World News Managing Editor with diary and minor administration About you We’re looking for someone who brings: A proven track record as a high-performing Executive Assistant, ideally with 5 years' experience supporting senior executives. Excellent diary and inbox management skills, with the ability to juggle priorities in a fast-paced news environment. Confidence engaging with stakeholders at all levels, from journalists, to Senior Stakeholders and Board members. Strong organisational skills and a solutions-focused mindset - you love improving processes and anticipating needs. Tech savvy and detail-oriented, with experience using tools like Microsoft Office, Concur and Oracle. High emotional intelligence and strong communication skills in a fast paced environment. A proactive can-do attitude rather than reactive.
