The successful candidate will contribute to the efficient operation of the kitchen by preparing and presenting quality meals, maintaining food safety standards, supporting kitchen staff, and ensuring consistency in food preparation within a fast-paced hospitality environment. Key Roles and Responsibilities Prepare, cook, and present a wide range of menu items in accordance with established recipes, presentation standards, and customer expectations Ensure consistency in food quality, portion control, taste, and presentation during all service periods Assist in menu planning and the development of seasonal dishes and specials Monitor food preparation and cooking processes to maintain efficiency and timely service Estimate food requirements and assist in controlling food and labour costs Inspect ingredients and prepared food to ensure freshness, quality, and compliance with food safety standards Maintain a clean, hygienic, and organised kitchen environment in accordance with Australian food safety regulations Operate kitchen equipment safely and ensure equipment is cleaned and maintained appropriately Supervise and support junior kitchen staff during food preparation and service Assist in training kitchen staff on cooking techniques, food preparation procedures, and workplace safety standards Manage stock control, stock rotation, ordering, and storage of food supplies and kitchen inventory Minimise food wastage through effective kitchen management and portion control practices Ensure compliance with workplace health and safety policies and procedures at all times Work collaboratively with management and front-of-house staff to ensure efficient service and customer satisfaction Maintain professionalism and adaptability in a high-pressure hospitality environment Skills and Experience Required Relevant qualification in Commercial Cookery or equivalent Minimum 1 year of relevant full-time experience as a Cook or Chef Strong understanding of kitchen operations, cooking techniques, and food safety practices Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced hospitality environment Excellent organisational and time management skills Strong communication and teamwork abilities Ability to work independently with minimal supervision Commitment to maintaining high standards of food quality and customer service Salary and Employment Conditions Competitive salary package of AUD $80,000 – $85,000 plus superannuation Employment conditions in accordance with Australian workplace laws and hospitality industry standards Terms and conditions of employment are no less favourable than those provided to Australian workers performing equivalent work About the Employer AVR HOSPITALITY PTY LTD T/AS Lone Star Rib House & Brews Christies Beach is a legally operating hospitality business located in a designated regional area of South Australia.
