About the Opportunity: We are looking for an experienced Software Engineering Discipline Manager to lead Lockheed Martin Australia’s Software Engineering function. This senior role will oversee a large distributed, multi-site team across Australia. The role must grow and evolve the business’ Software Engineering capability and capacity to match the needs of our customers and the increasingly iteratively designed highly complex products we deliver, whist also preserving the core principles of sound engineering practice. You will share responsibility with program engineering leadership to deliver on technical, cost and schedule commitments, and you will sit on the LMA Engineering & Technology leadership team. Key Responsibilities: · Strategic Leadership : Cultivate a high-performance software engineering culture, mentor teams, and drive continuous improvement · Governance & Advocacy : Institute rigorous processes, tools, and training programs; represent engineering priorities in cross-functional decision-making · Resource & Program Management : Oversee software engineering capability and resourcing, monitor program delivery and performance outcomes · Business Development : Support bids and proposals, ensuring technical excellence and commercial viability · Domain Stewardship : Provide functional leadership and domain governance across Software Engineering and related Specialty Engineering disciplines. About You : You are a senior Software Engineering leader with breadth of experience across complex defence programs, who has progressed capability over time and understands how to lead large, distributed technical teams. Essential Experience: Extensive experience across Software Engineering and Software Engineering Management Extensive experience delivering Software Engineering capability on defence acquisition and sustainment programs Demonstrated success leading teams of leaders and building functional capability at scale Outstanding knowledge of Software Engineering principles, governance and execution Strong strategic mindset with the ability to align change to organisational goals Exceptional stakeholder engagement and influence skills Desirable Experience Leadership of an engineering business function Software Estimation, bids and proposal development experience Experience driving digital transformation within Software Engineering How we reward and support you ?
