Role Purpose As a Senior Credit Assurance Officer, you will play a critical role in safeguarding the integrity of Capricorn’s credit decisions and risk framework. You will lead and support credit assessment and assurance activities across the business, ensuring robust risk evaluation, sound governance, and consistent alignment with Capricorn’s risk appetite and financial policies. This role is responsible for overseeing credit limit assessments, managing trade credit insurance arrangements, and proactively monitoring member risk profiles using external credit and risk tools such as Equifax and Debtor IQ. You will ensure appropriate security measures—such as Director / Guarantor checks, monitor & action any company or personal adverse or defaults are reported by credit bureaus or third party agency, sufficient collateral are in place, up to date, and fit for purpose Beyond core credit assessment, you will be a trusted partner to key internal stakeholders including Sales, Risk, Finance and Shares teams. You will contribute to broader strategic initiatives such as delinquency management, fraud risk mitigation and operational control testing. A key part of the role is leading, coaching and developing the Credit Assurance Team, ensuring service level agreements are met and that credit applications are processed accurately, efficiently and with sound commercial judgement. Skills, Knowledge and Attributes To succeed in this role, you will bring a combination of strong technical credit expertise, people leadership capability and a continuous improvement mindset. • Proven people leadership capability, with a track record of coaching and developing high-performing teams • Strong knowledge of credit assurance frameworks and practices, including independent credit review, risk oversight, regulatory compliance, and adherence to credit governance and delegated authority structures. • Demonstrated experience preparing and escalating credit submissions outside delegated lending authority[AN1.1] • Well-developed communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with internal stakeholders and Members • Ability to manage high volumes of complex, high-value transactions while meeting tight deadlines and maintaining accuracy • Proven stakeholder management skills across multiple business units, both upstream and downstream • A proactive approach to reviewing processes, driving improvements and embedding a culture of continuous improvement • Advanced capability across the Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel and PowerPoint • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically and pragmatically • Flexibility to support the team during peak periods and assist with additional workload when required Experience • Minimum of four to five years’ [AN2.1]recent experience in credit risk within banking, finance and/or accounting • Previous experience mentoring, training or leading team members is highly desirable • Experience leading or contributing to continuous improvement initiatives and process optimisation • Exposure to accounting and banking systems, including ERP platforms • High level of proficiency across the Microsoft Office suite A little on life at Capricorn Joining our community is about more than just a job, so here’s what’s in it for you: • Work flexibility – We’re all unique, and so are the ways in which we work.
