About the Role My client is seeking an experienced Claims Domain Architect to join a growing insurance organisation and take senior ownership of the Claims domain, driving both the technology strategy and its execution. This role plays a critical part in shaping the future of claims and core insurance platforms. You will work closely with business stakeholders, engineering teams, and enterprise architecture to design and deliver scalable, secure, and high-performing application solutions across the claims domain. This is a senior, market-facing role combining domain ownership, solution architecture, and technology leadership. You will act as the technical authority for the claims space, owning the domain and driving outcomes across platforms, teams, and initiatives. Strong Azure cloud expertise and deep insurance claims experience are essential. In addition to architecture responsibilities, this role provides technical leadership to claims delivery teams, operating as a Tech Lead and people leader to guide and uplift engineering capability across the domain. Key Responsibilities Domain Ownership & Strategy Own and drive the Claims domain from an architecture and technology perspective. Own the application and domain architecture for claims and insurance-related systems. Define and maintain current-state and target-state architectures for claims platforms. Develop and drive technology roadmaps aligned to business strategy and enterprise standards. Act as the senior technical authority for claims platforms and initiatives. Solution Architecture & Design Design end-to-end solution architectures aligned to business strategy and enterprise standards. Translate business and operational requirements into scalable and secure technical designs. Lead architectural decisions around integration, data flow, security, performance, and scalability. Drive cloud-native design using Microsoft Azure services. Provide architectural governance and ensure solutions align with best practices and standards. Support delivery teams through design reviews, technical guidance, and solution assurance. Technical Leadership & Team Ownership Provide strong technical leadership across the claims domain. Act as Tech Lead and Manager for claims-focused technology teams. Lead, mentor, and guide engineers and technical leads within the domain. Influence engineering standards, patterns, and best practices. Serve as the escalation point for complex technical and architectural challenges. Stakeholder & Market Engagement Partner with product, engineering, and business teams to translate requirements into technical designs. Work closely with senior business stakeholders to align claims processes with technology strategy. Represent the claims domain in architecture forums and governance bodies. Communicate complex technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders. Skills & Experience Essential Proven experience as an Application Architect, Domain Architect, or Solution Architect. Strong background in insurance, with deep experience in the claims domain. Hands-on experience designing solutions on Microsoft Azure (PaaS / IaaS / SaaS). Experience with system integration (APIs, messaging, event-driven architecture). Strong understanding of application design patterns and microservices architecture. Demonstrated ability to provide technical leadership to engineering teams. Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. Desirable Experience within general insurance. Exposure to Guidewire, Duck Creek, or similar insurance platforms. Experience with DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure as code.
