About the role As part of our growing manufacturing operation, we are establishing an advanced robotic welding workshop to support production of dewatering pump systems and fabricated assemblies. We’re looking for someone who enjoys working across design, fabrication, and automation — someone who likes solving real workshop problems and seeing their work come to life on the floor. This is a hands-on role where you’ll shape how products are designed, costed, and manufactured, while playing a key role in developing and optimising robotic welding processes If you enjoy bridging engineering thinking with workshop reality — this role will suit you. What you’ll be doing Design & manufacturing support Produce 3D models and workshop drawings for fabricated pump components and assemblies Design with fabrication and robotic welding in mind — not just theory Work closely with fabricators and operators to refine designs for buildability Maintain drawing accuracy and revision control Robotic welding & automation Program, adjust, and optimise robotic welding routines Support setup and operation of robotic welding cells and associated tooling Improve weld quality, repeatability, and cycle times Troubleshoot robotic welding issues alongside maintenance and production teams Estimation & technical input Develop fabrication and welding estimates for new work and product changes Assess labour, robotic cycle times, and fabrication complexity Help build estimating benchmarks based on real workshop performance Workshop integration Support introduction of new products into production Help solve fabrication or welding challenges through design or process changes Contribute to improving workflow, safety, and manufacturing consistency What we’re looking for You don’t need to tick every box — but you should recognise yourself in most of these: Background in fabrication, mechanical engineering, manufacturing, or automation Ability to read and produce fabrication drawings Exposure to robotic welding, CNC, or automated manufacturing environments Strong understanding of welding and fabrication processes Practical mindset — you think about how things are actually built Comfortable working between office and workshop environments Someone who takes ownership, solves problems, and supports the team Trade automation design exposure is highly valued.
