The General Hand / labourer works as an integral part of the Operations team, supporting the manufacturing and refurbishment of mining assets and equipment. The role involves a wide range of tasks including operating specialised machines and equipment, interpreting technical drawings, installing and removing wear-resistant materials, and assisting tradespeople in fabrication and assembly, packing of finished orders for transport, delivery of orders as required. The position ensures that all work is carried out safely, efficiently, and in compliance with quality and customer requirements, contributing to the overall effectiveness of production operations. Please note these roles will be based in both our Wangara and Henderson workshops with the option for those wanting long term opportunity to work in our new workshop based in Canning Vale. Scope of Responsibility Operational Support • Safely and efficiently operate machinery, equipment, power tools, and hand tools in line with job requirements and safety standards. • Conduct pre-operational inspections and complete pre-start checks to confirm all equipment is safe, functional, and compliant. • Support tradespeople in the fabrication, assembly, installation, and removal of wear-resistant materials on mining equipment. • Suitable packing of finished orders ready for transport. • Assist with container unloading and keep stock and offcut yard and work area tidy. Quality & Documentation • Assist the Supervisor and Leading Hand with QA documentation, ensuring records are accurate, complete, and compliant. • Support reporting requirements and contribute to continuous improvement in production efficiency and quality outcomes. Safety & Compliance • Adhere to all PPE requirements, ensuring correct use, maintenance, and replacement. • Conduct pre-operational inspections and complete pre-start checks to confirm all equipment is safe, functional, and compliant. • Carry out all tasks in compliance with Safe Work Procedures (SWPs), Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), and risk management requirements. • Identify and escalate hazards, risks, non-conformances, or equipment faults in line with company procedures. • Maintain housekeeping standards across work areas, ensuring materials, consumables, and equipment are stored safely and efficiently. • Maintain compliance documentation and contribute to ongoing HSEQ improvements. 3 | ACE ECI WLS Skills, Experience and Competencies • Experience in workshop or mining environments, with exposure to equipment, processes, and wear solutions (desirable). • Strong knowledge of health and safety procedures, with the ability to identify and address hazards. • Practical problem-solving skills, sound judgement, and high attention to detail in fast-paced environments. • Safety-conscious, quality-driven, and committed to maintaining compliance with standards. • Effective communication skills with the ability to follow instructions and work collaboratively across teams. • Self-motivated, reliable, and adaptable, with strong organisational skills to manage changing priorities and deadlines. • Strong verbal, written and numerical literacy • Results-driven with a customer-focused approach. • Works effectively in small team environments. • Ability to work under minimal supervision.
