Roster: 7 Days On / 7 Days Off – FIFO ex Perth or residentially located in Port Hedland Fortescue is seeking an experienced Fire Systems Mechanical Technician to join our Infrastructure Services team in Port Hedland. This is a hands-on role where your expertise will directly support the safety and reliability of our operational and camp facilities. In this role, you will deliver safe, high-quality maintenance across site, taking ownership of the inspection, testing, repair and maintenance of fire sprinkler systems, hydrants and pump sets. You’ll be part of a highly skilled team that values safety, accountability and continuous improvement—while working in a dynamic, large-scale mining environment. Key Responsibilities Champion safety-first behaviours and continuous improvement practicesPerform planned and routine maintenance on fire protection systemsDiagnose faults and carry out effective repairs to minimise downtimeOversee contractor groups during modular works and major shutdownsReplace and modify fire pipework and sprinkler systems as requiredUtilise SAP to raise notifications, close work orders, complete time confirmations and apply cause codes Qualifications And Experience Australian recognised Certificate II in Fire ProtectionMinimum 2 years’ relevant experience (trade-qualified Mechanical Fitters or Plumbers are encouraged to apply)EAHL qualification highly desirableExperience in fixed plant maintenance including screens, conveyors, sizers, scrubbers, crushers, balance machines and chutesExperience using computer-based maintenance systems (SAP desirable)High-risk work tickets such as EWP, Working at Heights, Rigging, Forklift and Confined Space highly regarded About Us Be part of something big.
