Roster: 8D/6R – FIFO ex Perth Fortescue is seeking an experienced Mechancial Engineer to join the team at Christmas Creek on a family-friendly 8/6 roster. This role provides reliability engineering support to the operational Ore Processing Facility (OPF), focusing on data-driven improvement initiatives, defect elimination, and safety projects to enable sustained asset performance while meeting cost and production objectives. Key Responsibilities Liaise with operations, maintenance and wider engineering teams to provide sound mechanical engineering solutions to plant and equipment issues.Provide effective stakeholder and change management support for engineering improvements, modifications and maintenance strategy changes.Monitor and assure the quality and compliance of critical maintenance processes, including maintenance strategies and execution standards.Review and audit delay and downtime accounting data to ensure accurate capture within the site time usage model.Identify, propose, and lead continuous improvement initiatives, including the initiation and execution of mechanical engineering improvement projects.Champion safety initiatives, identifying mechanical and process-related risks and leading projects to improve plant safety and compliance.Conduct and support root cause analysis (RCA) investigations for plant downtime and breakdown events and implement sustainable corrective actions.Complete and manage engineering reviews, actions, and tasks to improve asset reliability, availability and safety performance.Act as a key mechanical engineering stakeholder for capital projects, providing technical input across design, review, execution and commissioning phases. Qualifications And Experience Tertiary qualification in Mechanical Engineering or Reliability Engineering.Extensive experience in a fixed plant or heavy industrial environment; site-based experience in a Maintenance or Reliability role is highly regarded.Strong planning, problem-solving, organisational, scheduling, and coordination skills.Demonstrated experience with EAM/CMMS systems, including SAP.Proficient in computer-based applications such as the Microsoft Office suite and Navisworks.Well-developed communication skills with the ability to effectively engage and influence key stakeholders.
