A busy, fast paced service workshop in Morningside is seeking an experienced Workshop Mechanical Leading Hand to help steer daily operations and support the Workshop Supervisor. This is a hands-on leadership role suited to a trade-qualified professional, ideally with a Mechanical Fitting background, who understands the rhythm of a service department and can keep the wheels turning smoothly under pressure. The Role You will be the bridge between the workshop floor, management and customers, coordinating workflow while managing personalities in a diverse and sensitive team environment. You will: • Coordinate daily workshop activities and job flow • Work closely with the Workshop Supervisor • Liaise directly with customers regarding service jobs • Assist with quoting and job costing • Manage staff performance and team dynamics • Ensure deadlines are met in a high-volume environment • Utilise Microsoft Office for emails, documentation and scheduling About You • Trade qualified (Mechanical Fitter highly regarded) • Previous experience running or assisting in a service department • Strong people management skills • Confident managing diverse personalities • Comfortable in a fast paced workshop environment • Competent with Microsoft products and email communication • Commercial awareness around quoting and job tracking • Mature, steady leadership style This role would suit a seasoned tradesperson ready to take ownership and bring structure, leadership and experience to a busy workshop environment.
