The key duties of the position include The Role As an International Capability Officer in the International Engagement Directorate, you will play a key role in shaping Australia's digital Defence posture with our allies and partners. This is a fast-paced, future-focused environment where you will support strategic initiatives that enable interoperable digital capabilities across Defence and coalition networks. You will: Contribute to the design and delivery of capability development initiatives that strengthen Defence's international digital interoperability. Assist in preparing high-quality reports, briefs, and engagement materials for senior leaders and international partners. Collaborate across Defence and with external stakeholders to support capability planning and alignment with strategic objectives. Undertake research and analysis on emerging technologies, interoperability frameworks, and global digital Defence trends. Provide flexible support across a range of tasks, adapting to changing priorities in a dynamic environment. This role offers exposure to strategic-level Defence engagement and capability development, with strong mentoring and professional development opportunities in a tight-knit, high-performing team. This role is eligible for an additional remuneration benefit known in Defence as a Building Defence Capability Payment (BDCP). This enables Defence to provide a premium, in addition to the base salary otherwise payable under the Defence Enterprise Collective Agreement (DECA), for positions in occupational disciplines/classifications that are critical to Defence capability.
