Description Finance Manager – Governance & Controls Shape the future of rail with Downer. We are seeking an experienced Finance Manager – Governance & Controls to join our Rail & Transit Systems (RTS) Head Office finance team. Reporting to the Financial Controller RTS, this management role is pivotal in driving financial governance, compliance, and control frameworks, while delivering business insights that support major projects and initiatives. About the Role As Finance Manager – Governance & Controls, you will: Drive the preparation of accurate statutory financial statements and ensure compliance with governance and control requirements. Oversee and enhance financial controls, including Credit Card audits and Delegation of Financial Authority (DFA) updates. Provide technical accounting support and guidance on change projects and new business initiatives. Partner with RTS Head Office and Project Delivery finance teams to deliver reliable reporting and analysis, with a strong focus on governance and risk management. Foster continuous improvement in financial practices, controls, and compliance with Downer’s policies and statutory obligations. Key Accountabilities Governance & Controls: Implement and improve financial governance frameworks, oversee DFA reviews, and conduct credit card audits. Financial Projects: Support large tenders, joint venture accounting governance, and statutory reporting. Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to streamline processes and enhance reporting accuracy. About You We are looking for a proactive and detail-oriented finance professional with: Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting, plus CAANZ/CPA membership. 5 years’ experience in financial accounting at a senior level within a large corporation or accounting firm. Experience in rail, heavy industrial, or asset management services (preferred). Advanced Excel and Financial Systems (OneStream, JDEGS). Demonstrated leadership ability, with a continuous improvement mindset and strong safety values. Why Downer?
