Client Our client is a world-leading producer of premium mushroom compost. They are a fourth-generation family business that has been a part of the Hawkesbury community for nearly 60 years. Their mushroom compost accounts for 70% of NSW's total mushroom production, and 25% of the country's production. They are now seeking to appoint a Production Manager for the compost manufacturing process. Role This new position will oversee all operational and performance aspects of daily composting production activities. It is an "on-the-floor" role leading the compost manufacturing team. You will promote a positive work environment focused on learning and continuous improvement, while demonstrating your leadership skills in a growing, sustainable business. Responsibilities Oversee daily operations and performance across allocated production phases. Coordinate product supply, quality, and customer delivery requirements. Lead and support production teams, including rostering, training, and performance management. Maintain accurate production records, labour, and operational data. Ensure HACCP, WHS, and environmental compliance across all operations. Monitor machinery, collaborating with the maintenance workshop to ensure equipment reliability. Conduct compost quality checks and drive continuous improvement initiatives. Implement and oversee cleaning, disinfection, and pest control programs. Promote a strong safety culture through training, risk assessments, and toolbox talks. Work closely with QA and Department Managers to achieve production and quality goals. Requirements Demonstrated production manufacturing management, which could be in food or agriculture production, compost manufacture, waste industry processing, chemical manufacture, etc. Demonstrated experience in Safety and WHS Management (due to large machinery operating on site, as well as the use of sterilisers). Exceptional supervisory experience with strong leadership and mentoring skills. Mechanically minded with a good understanding of process machinery, problem-solving capabilities and general manufacturing practices. Forklift experience. Good computer skills.
