Our local government client is entering an exciting phase of technology transformation, with a strong focus on modernising infrastructure, strengthening governance, and accelerating their move to cloud-based solutions. We’re looking for an experienced Infrastructure & Cloud Lead to take ownership of the infrastructure and cloud environment and lead a long-standing, experienced team through this next chapter. About the role In this strategic and hands-on role, you’ll lead all aspects of infrastructure and cloud services. The technical environment is heavily cloud (Azure) focused, but your role will also cover on-prem, networks, and operational service management. You'll have accountability for reliability, security, performance, cost optimisation, and continuous improvement across a complex enterprise environment. This is more than just a technical role, it's also a key leadership position. You’ll manage a team of 5-6 Infrastructure Engineers and play a key role in uplifting capability, introducing modern practices, and embedding strong governance. What you'll do Lead and evolve the council’s infrastructure and cloud strategy, aligned to organisational priorities Drive the ongoing migration and optimisation of services in Azure Ensure high availability, performance, security, and compliance across infrastructure services Establish and mature service management practices, including service catalogue, SLAs, incident, problem, change, and capacity management Oversee disaster recovery and business continuity planning and testing Lead, coach, and develop a skilled infrastructure team through a period of change and modernisation Partner closely with internal stakeholders and external vendors to deliver reliable, fit-for-purpose services Identify and implement opportunities for automation, innovation, and cost efficiency About you You’re a seasoned infrastructure leader who enjoys balancing people leadership with technical depth. You’re comfortable working in complex, enterprise or highly regulated environments and bring a calm, pragmatic approach to change.
