RETAINED SEARCH / EXCLUSIVE LISTING About our client Our client acts as a Manager of Aboriginal businesses that co-invest, pool and share resources to help local Indigenous individuals, families and communities trade, invest and work together to build a self-governing economic future. They support a workforce of approximately 200 people across WA, spanning multiple sites and operational environments. Around 20 employees are based at the South Perth head office. The People and Culture Manager has a private office and access to on-site parking. Staff are employed under various awards and conditions, reflecting the diversity of work undertaken across locations. About the opportunity Reporting to the General Manager, the role is responsible for establishing scalable HR systems and delivering improvements across compliance, engagement and development. The position works closely with leaders to embed values, strengthen culture and create consistent processes. The role will have 2 direct reports to form a small in-house HR and will require periodic travel to Pilbara sites (monthly or bi-monthly for one to two days) to maintain visibility and support operations. Key responsibilities Provide a structured onboarding experience for new employees Launch an online induction and annual policy refresh program Introduce sourcing and succession planning frameworks Implement a performance review cycle supported by manager training Establish recognition programs linked to organisational mission, vision and values Develop internal IR capability to reduce reliance on external advisory services Replace manual processes with standardised templates and improve completion rates Partner with managers to support HR decision-making across office and site operations Guide leaders on award interpretation, employment conditions and dispute management Grow and lead a small HR team as organisational needs increase About you Ideally you bring broad generalist HR experience from a mining or construction industry or a corporate setting where you have introduced HR processes. You are confident with ER/IR matters, award interpretation, and coaching leaders, and you have experience implementing HR systems such as onboarding, performance, succession, recognition and engagement. You are comfortable supporting 1–2 direct reports, partnering with operational managers and travelling to sites when required. You will have an HR qualification and a valid driver’s licence, experience with multiple awards, and the capability to design and roll out HR frameworks across both office and site operations. Experience creating online induction processes and implementing scalable systems will be beneficial. A medical, drug and alcohol test and a Police Clearance are required. What’s on offer The role is based in the South Perth head office, with on-site parking and a private office. It reports directly to a supportive General Manager. Travel to Pilbara sites is scheduled and funded and provides operational insight while maintaining a regular office-based routine.
