About the role The Compliance Operations Lead is responsible for overseeing day-to-day compliance in our business operations, supporting front line businesses to ensure that regulatory obligations, internal policies, and risk management frameworks are effectively implemented and maintained. This role plays a critical part in driving a culture of compliance across the organization and ensures the BMD group efficiently and effectively meets its expanding sector compliance obligations. Your accountabilities: Lead the effective operation and continuous improvement of Group compliance systems. Ensure organisational adherence to relevant legislation, regulatory standards and industry obligations. Maintain accurate compliance documentation, workflows and accreditation libraries. Oversee and support staff with designated compliance duties to ensure capability and consistency. Act as a key liaison between the business, compliance functions, and external regulators. Promote a strong compliance culture through training, coaching and awareness initiatives. Your responsibilities: Operational Leadership Support the Chief Security Officer and Chief Compliance Officer in meeting Defence Industry, AUSTRAC AML/CTF and ASIC compliance obligations. Administer and enhance compliance systems, processes and internal controls. Guide and oversee field staff with compliance responsibilities. Monitor and report on compliance activity, identifying risks, gaps and improvement opportunities. Regulatory Compliance Ensure compliance with requirements relating to DISP, AML/CTF and Funds Management obligations. Prepare, coordinate and submit regulatory reporting. Monitor compliance events, controls and triggers, escalating issues as required. Keep abreast of regulatory changes and advise on impacts to operational processes. Support the development and implementation of compliance frameworks across the Group (excluding HSEQ). Maintain up-to-date compliance documentation and reporting obligations. Stakeholder Engagement Work collaboratively with internal stakeholders and external regulators to support compliance outcomes. Deliver training and awareness programs to embed compliance knowledge and behaviours. Support bid teams with compliance information, documentation and system access. Ensure site security officers and defence-accredited staff meet mandatory training and reporting obligations. You have: 1-2 years’ experience in compliance, risk, or audit roles. Understanding of regulatory frameworks.
