With a booming, culturally rich and diverse community, and less than an hourâs drive from the CBD (still within the bounds of Myki and ride-sharing), Melbourneâs North is fast becoming the place to be.   Northern Health are seeking applications from motivated and suitably experienced Hospital Medical Officers (HMOs) to join our health service in the general rotational stream.  Northern Health is the major provider of acute, maternity, sub-acute, mental health, specialist, community and home-based services in Melbourneâs rapidly growing outer north.  Services are provided through our six main campuses: Northern Hospital Epping, Broadmeadows Hospital, Bundoora Centre, Craigieburn and Mernda Community Hospitals Centres and Kilmore District Hospital. In addition, Mental Health Services are provided at Epping, Broadmeadows, Jacana, Preston, Mill Park, Mernda and Coburg.  About the Role: There is an exciting opportunity for a General HMO to join the team at Northern Health.  We are actively seeking applicants who hold current AHPRA Registration or are eligible to apply for provisional registration with AHPRA. This is a fixed-term position starting from May, August, or November 2026 for 12 months. The General Stream at Northern Health offers a wide range of experience including rotations in mental health, surgery, medicine, emergency, sub-acute, and womenâs and childrenâs. You may elect to do a specialised year in mental health or surgery. Rotations on offer include: Acute General Surgery Admitting Medical Team Aged Care/GEM Cardiology Emergency Adult Emergency Paediatrics Ear, Nose, and Throat Surgery General Medicine General Surgery (Colorectal, Breast, UGI, HPB) Hospital in the Home Hospital in the Home Registrar Intensive Care Unit (Goulburn Valley) Mental Health (Inpatient & Community) Obstetrics & Gynaecology Day Oncology/SURC Haematology Infusion Centre Haematology Orthogeriatrics Orthopaedic Surgery Paediatrics Paediatric Surgery Palliative Care Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery Rehabilitation Medicine Respiratory Spec Med Nights Surgical Nights Urology Vascular Surgery To be successful in this role you will have: Medical registration or eligibility to apply for provisional registration with the Medical Board of Australia under the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) Must be a holder of a relevant employment visa if not an Australian resident.
