With a booming, culturally rich and diverse community, and less than an hourâs drive from the CBD (still within the bounds of Myki and ride-sharing), Melbourneâs North is fast becoming the place to be.   Northern Health are seeking applications from motivated and suitably experienced Associate Nurse Unit Managers to join the Urgent Care Centre (UCC) team at Mernda Community Hospital.   Northern Health is the major provider of acute, maternity, sub-acute, mental health, specialist, community and home-based services in Melbourneâs rapidly growing outer north.  Services are provided through our six main campuses: Northern Hospital Epping, Broadmeadows Hospital, Bundoora Centre, Craigieburn and Mernda Community Hospital and Kilmore District Hospital. In addition, Mental Health Services are provided at Epping, Broadmeadows, Jacana, Preston, Mill Park, Mernda and Coburg.  About the Role: This role is responsible for:  Providing leadership and supervision of nursing staff on a shift-by-shift basis. Coordinating and allocating staff according to workload, acuity and skill mix. Acting in the Nurse Unit Manager role when required. Supporting staff performance management, mentoring and professional development. Ensuring safe, effective and high-quality patient care in accordance with policies and standards. Managing patient flow, staffing resources and electronic rostering. Leading and contribution to quality improvement initiatives and assigned portfolios. Promoting a culture of safety, inclusivity, innovation and continuous improvement. Ensuring compliance with National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards, Child Safety Standards and organizational requirements.  To be successful in this role you will have: Current registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA Minimum four (4) years post-registration experience, with experience acting in charge highly desirable. Demonstrated knowledge of leadership and management principles in a clinical setting. Sound clinical assessment, decision-making and escalation skills. Proven ability to manage patient flow and utilize resources efficiently. Excellent communication, interpersonal and conflict resolution skills. Ability to work a rotating roster, including day, evening and night shifts. Strong computer literacy and ability to use clinical and workforce IT systems.
