The Opportunity: KBR is seeking a motivated Senior Systems Engineer to join our team. This role supports a major Defence program focused on the planning, acquisition, integration, and transition of Mission Systems into service and sustainment. As a Senior Systems Engineer, you will play a key role in delivering engineering expertise across design management, systems integration, verification and validation, and materiel certification. You’ll work both independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to contribute to the successful delivery of engineering inputs across critical project work packages. Responsibilities: Lead and support systems engineering activities including requirements management, V&V planning and execution, and risk mitigation. Develop and review engineering documentation and artefacts such as SEMP, MCP, and Safety Cases. Engage with stakeholders across Defence and industry, contributing to contract negotiations and technical evaluations. Mentor junior engineers and foster a collaborative, knowledge-sharing culture. Operate within the Organisation’s One Defence Capability System and SPO’s Engineering Management System, maintaining a high standard of activities and outputs. Support contract negotiations and tender evaluation activities, including the review of contractor submittals and provision of input to the development of technical specifications and related documentation. As the ideal candidate you will bring: Chartered Professional Engineer (or eligible) with: Proven experience in Defence systems engineering, ideally within the Joint or Land domain. Strong technical background in Electrical, Electronics, Communications, RF, Systems, Mechatronics or Mechanical engineering. Excellent communication skills and a proactive, solutions-focused mindset. Experience developing key engineering artefacts and supporting test and trial activities is highly desirable. Demonstrated experience in the development of key engineering project artefacts such as the Systems Engineering Management Plan (SEMP), Materiel Certification Plan (MCP), Verification Cross Reference Matrix (VCRM) and Verification and Validation (V&V) Plans, Procedures, Reports and Final Inspection and Test (FI&T) Plans, Procedures and Reports. Due to the nature of Defence work, applicants must be Australian citizens and hold an active NV1 security clearance .
