The key duties of the position include The Role The Assistant Director ANNPSR Policy, in the Regulatory Framework Branch operates under broad direction of the Director ANNPSR Policy to develop and implement complex policies, which align to Government and Australian Naval Nuclear Power Safety Regulator (ANNPSR) strategic priorities. This position anticipates and identifies policy issues, undertakes research, analysis and modelling, and consults with stakeholders to develop and implement policies and programs. The Assistant Director designs criteria to monitor and evaluate policy effectiveness for the ANNPSR. They are also responsible for identifying and mitigating risks to the development and implementation of effective policy. The role undertakes complex research and analysis in specialty areas to provide evidence-based recommendations. They prepare highly complex correspondence and documentation and maintain accurate records of discussions and decisions. The Assistant Director develops and implements processes, procedures and tools that support the delivery of high quality policy advice and provides advice on highly complex and sensitive policy matters. Finally, an important part of their role is to display leadership qualities and manage a high performing team, while ensuring the delivery of results aligned with organisational goals and requirements. Due to the unique workplace context and sensitive work undertaken, candidates may be required to undergo additional suitability screening or assessments.
