Internal expression of interest Senior Policy Officer - Environment Officer Class 10 (EO10) Temporary full-time (up to 30 June 2026) opportunity (with possibility of extension) Based in Parramatta - 4PSQ (location negotiable) Salary relative to experience, and ranges from $134,421 to $148,239 super The Heritage NSW Policy and Strategy Branch is seeking to appoint a Senior Policy Officer with strong policy skills to help deliver the NSW Government’s first heritage strategy and related legislative reforms. This is a great opportunity to take the next step in your career and use your considerable policy experience to deliver significant outcomes for NSW through this major government commitment. In this role, you will drive the development of critical components of the NSW Heritage Strategy including a comprehensive set of reform and implementation proposals to improve the operation of the NSW heritage system. About You The role will be responsible for leading the development of reform proposals including the drafting of policy instructions and cabinet submissions, as well as input into finalising the heritage strategy. The successful candidate will work with other Heritage NSW teams and the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (DCCEEW) Legal branch to understand the challenges and opportunities of the current heritage system, and design solutions to improve the regulatory framework and customer outcomes. Engagement with external stakeholders, including other NSW government agencies to develop and test innovative and evidence-based proposals will be a key component of the role. The successful candidate will be a key member of the Strategic Policy team and will be responsible for allocating and supporting the work of other team members to deliver collective goals. Key knowledge and experience Knowledge of and experience in the preparation and development of policy analysis, planning, formulation, interpretation and evaluation in a politically sensitive portfolio. Understanding of, and experience dealing with, contemporary public policy issues with knowledge of government and public administration, legislative processes and protocols and the complexities of policy debates. Essential Requirements Tertiary qualifications or sound experience in policy development, heritage, Aboriginal cultural heritage or relevant field.
