The key duties of the position include The Role Sitting within Governance Group, the Quality Assurance Unit provides editorial and communication protocol functions within the Ministerial and Executive Coordination and Communication Division (MECC). The team has interesting and varied roles that provide unique insight into Defence's diverse work. The role requires high level written communication and editing skills, attention to detail and sound judgement to review material for preparation of high-quality advice to meet portfolio ministers' requirements, via the Parliamentary Document Management System (PDMS). Key duties: Editorial review of documents including ministerial submissions, briefs and correspondence to ensure adherence to relevant communication protocols and standards set by portfolio ministers and the Australian Government Style manual. Work with senior editors on various projects, receiving guidance and feedback. Ensure prioritisation and completion of numerous tasks to drive the effective and efficient delivery of outcomes within allocated timeframes. Contribute, identify and implement performance improvements to enhance delivery of products and services. About our Team MECC operates in a dynamic, high tempo environment and is a central interface between the Defence organisation, portfolio ministers, the Government, Parliament, media organisations and the public. We work collaboratively with Defence Groups and Services to ensure Defence is providing high quality, coordinated and timely advice. The Strategic Priorities Branch within MECC supports the Deputy Secretary Governance to improve the quality, responsiveness and relevance of departmental advice to Defence portfolio ministers and their offices.
