This is an exciting opportunity to develop communications and provide strategic advice in high-profile areas, including climate change, energy, environment, and heritage. About the role As a Senior Project Officer, you will play a key role in ensuring the delivery of high-quality, timely communications materials and advice to Ministers and DCCEEW executives. You will: Prepare speeches and speaking points for events. Coordinate, draft and review Ministerial briefings. Plan and deliver Ministerial events and visits across NSW. Deliver internal education and engagement initiatives in the Department. Provide clear, risk-assessed advice on complex and sensitive issues. Collaborate across the Department and with other government stakeholders. Support decision-making and messaging on initiatives that shape NSW’s environmental and energy future. This position offers a unique opportunity to work across governance, communications, public policy, and program delivery, with strong career development pathways within the NSW public sector. About You You are a confident communicator and strategic thinker who thrives in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. You bring: Exceptional research, writing, editing, and formatting skills, with a sharp eye for detail and accuracy. Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines. Sound judgement, diplomacy, and analytical capability to navigate sensitive or complex issues. A collaborative, customer-focused mindset and commitment to delivering public value. Key knowledge and experience Experience drafting speaking materials for senior leaders. Demonstrated ability to provide high-level strategic advice on complex, sensitive, or contentious issues at senior management or ministerial level. Advanced Microsoft Word skills, including editing and formatting. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint. Strong digital literacy, with the ability to quickly learn and apply new tools such as SharePoint, Teams Webinars, and Word template creation as needed. Solid understanding of the machinery of government, policy development processes and relevant legislation. Essential Requirements Extensive project management experience. Experience in providing support, communications and advice at the Ministerial or senior executive level.
