The key duties of the position include The Role As part of the Program Performance team, the APS 6 Program Assurance Team Lead is accountable under limited direction to manage and deliver governance, assurance, auditing and corporate reporting activities in support of the Royal Commission into Defence and Veteran Suicide (RCDVS) Defence Implementation Program (the Program). They will have proven organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple and competing priorities. They will set priorities for the Assurance Team, ensuring the delivery of work to the required standard and timeframe. They will exercise both initiative and judgement in the interpretation of policy and in the application of practices and procedures. They will provide assurance advice in relation to complex work and contribute to strategic planning and program management. The APS 6 Program Assurance Team Lead will contribute to the strategic review of assurance systems in the areas of strategic and business planning, performance measurement and continuous improvement. They will have knowledge of legislative frameworks, government decision-making, Defence's mission and policy requirements. They will develop strong and respectful relationships with stakeholders, to work collaboratively with stakeholders on complex program issues. They will be required to identify, anticipate and respond to stakeholders' needs and expectations to achieve work unit and Program outcomes. The APS 6 Assurance Officer will build team capability through coaching and feedback to develop the standard of work performed by others within a work unit. They will share their expertise with others, particularly to guide and mentor less experienced members of the team. They may exercise the associated people and financial responsibilities to achieve work unit outcomes. About our Team The Defence Royal Commission Program Management Office (DRCPMO) is responsible for the governance and oversight arrangements for the Royal Commission into Defence and Veteran Suicide Defence Implementation Program (the Program). As such, the DRCPMO works with the Groups and Services to ensure the implementation of the RDCVS recommendations aligns with Government intent. The Assurance team is a small team that integrates with the other APS staff within the Program Performance Directorate. The Assurance team supports the assessment of the Program's effective and efficient delivery of meaningful change that addresses the factors that lead to suicide and suicidality in the veteran community.
