Senior Cloud Security Engineer (Contract) – AWS (Melbourne preferred, also considering Sydney & Brisbane. Initial 6 months. Play a pivotal role in uplifting a large-scale AWS environment by modernising cloud security controls and replacing legacy solutions with the latest AWS features and capabilities. We’re looking for an experienced Cloud Security Engineer to join on a 6-month contract (with possible extension) and deliver measurable security improvements across a multi-account AWS environment. You’ll be embedded in a collaborative security team and work alongside engineering and platform teams to strengthen the organisation’s cloud security posture. What you’ll be doing Leading cloud security initiatives aligned to strategic priorities, delivering tangible outcomes Designing and implementing advanced AWS security controls across services including Control Tower, CloudTrail, GuardDuty, IAM, SCPs, Security Hub, KMS and VPC networking Leveraging Infrastructure-as-Code (CloudFormation, Terraform) to enforce consistent, automated security Partnering with engineering teams to uplift CI/CD pipeline security and remediate vulnerabilities Creating documentation and knowledge transfer material to ensure long-term sustainability What we’re looking for 5 years’ experience in cloud security engineering, with a strong AWS focus Proven ability to deliver results in a fast-paced, project-driven environment Advanced knowledge of AWS security architecture, multi-account environments, and automation Strong exposure to IaC (CloudFormation/Terraform) and security automation tooling Familiarity with agile ways of working and cross-functional collaboration Excellent communication and documentation skills Why you’ll want to join Deliver a high-impact uplift in a large, complex AWS environment Work with a supportive security team passionate about best practice Fully remote-friendly / hybrid options available (depending on location) Initial 6-month contract, with potential for extension If you’re a Cloud Security Engineer who thrives on shaping security at scale and working with modern AWS services, we’d love to hear from you.
