You will apply your technical expertise across hardware design, RF configuration, fault diagnosis, and systems documentation, while also mentoring others and sharing critical knowledge. This is a hands-on, onsite position in Canberra, working within secure facilities as part of Australia’s national security capability. Key Responsibilities Design, integrate, test, and document RF and technology subsystems Develop and execute test procedures using cutting-edge equipment Model and prototype RF component behaviour for stakeholder approval Support continuous process improvement and participate in design reviews Utilise RF tools such as oscilloscopes, logic and spectrum analysers Collaborate with technical specialists to ensure system optimisation Key Technical Skills RF systems, subsystems, and component design Hands-on experience with Coaxial, Optical and Signalling cabling Systems engineering documentation and modelling Protocol configuration and performance tuning Use of diagnostic and testing tools across multiple RF environments Essential Criteria (Please address each in your application): System Design Expertise (DESN 4) – Strong ability to design system components using modelling techniques and design patterns that align with architecture and stakeholder needs. Demonstrated experience in producing detailed design specs and iterative improvements. Radio Frequency Engineering (RFEN 4) – Deep understanding of RF fault diagnostics, reconfiguration, performance optimisation, and protocol integration across available frequencies. Testing and Validation (TEST 3) – Proficiency in creating and executing test scripts and cases, performing exploratory testing, automating test procedures, and logging detailed outcomes.
