The key duties of the position include The Role The Director Seaworthiness Governance is responsible for the development, implementation and on-going administration of the Defence Seaworthiness Framework Governance Functions. This includes the administration of the (to be established) Defence Maritime Seaworthiness Board and management of the Seaworthiness regulatory functions with Defence's Committee Structures. Additionally, the position will also lead the internal administration team of Office Defence Seaworthiness Regulator (ODSwR), including establishing and maintaining a Quality Management System, strategic planning, workforce planning and management, recruitment, financial and project management and organisational management, and general business support. Responsibilities include establishing, implementing and administering: A governance board and committee construct; Quality and risk management systems; Continual business improvement; Transformation initiatives; Policy analysis and advice to the leadership team; The provision of guidance and support to team members, ensuring professional development and high performance; and Monitoring and reporting on the progress of business improvements. About our Team The Office of the Defence Seaworthiness Regulator (ODSwR) provides the Defence Seaworthiness Authority (Chief of Navy) with independent assurance that maritime mission systems (warships, naval auxiliaries, and defence vessels) across the Defence Enterprise, comply with the Regulations as outlined in the Defence Seaworthiness Management System. Led by the Director-General Seaworthiness, ODSwR comprises of five Directorates and embraces the principles of a data driven regulator to identify, analyse, report on and resolve the impact of emerging hazards and risk to Seaworthiness in Defence. The core functions of ODSwR are to: Promulgate and Administer Regulations; Gather and Analyse Safety and Environment Data; Monitor and Assess Compliance; Provide Continual Assurance; Engage, Educate and Communicate with the Regulated Community and Peer Regulators; and Deliver Internal Business and Enabling Support.
