You know your way around big earthworks and mining civil projects, and you’re just as comfortable on a dusty site as you are in a boardroom looking at a pipeline forecast. Based in Perth or Kalgoorlie, you’ll join a respected mining civil contractor with serious ambitions, backing and a clear plan to grow hard over the next two years. The role Reporting to the General Manager - Business Development, you’ll be out in front of the market, identifying, shaping and converting work across mining civil, infrastructure and equipment hire. You will: Own a portfolio of key mining and civil clients and projects, building relationships that go well beyond a pint and a steak sandwich. Chase and secure large‑scale earthworks, shut‑downs, mill expansions and mining services contracts. Stay close to project requirements, pain points and maintenance gaps so you can bring the right solutions to the table at the right time. Use data, CRM and solid forecasting to build and manage your pipeline - you’ll know exactly what needs to happen to hit your targets, not just wing it. Work closely with BD, estimating and operations to shape bids and tenders, price work and make sure the delivery team can succeed. Spend regular time on site (circa two days per month) across WA, including Kalgoorlie and surrounding regions, attending key industry and networking events like Diggers & Dealers. Hours are Monday to Friday, 8am-4pm, with travel as needed and a genuine focus on doing the work well rather than being chained to your desk. About you You’re commercially sharp, direct and easy to talk to. People take your calls because you add value, not fluff. You’ll likely bring: Experience with large‑scale earthworks and mining civil construction – think major roads, Tonkin‑style projects, iron ore or similar. A background with earthmoving contractors, mining services or civil contractors, potentially from roles such as PM, estimator or BDM. Strong understanding of shut‑downs, maintenance scopes, tendering and the true cost to do work. A solid network in the mining civil space and an ability to quickly map out who’s who and where the opportunities are. Confidence with CRM, Microsoft 365 and technology in general – you track the work, know your numbers and embrace tools that make you better. Straight‑up communication style - you get to the point, ask good questions and hold meaningful conversations that uncover real needs. A relevant Diploma would be a bonus, but attitude, industry credibility and commercial smarts matter more than letters after your name. What’s on offer This business knows that the right BD person moves the dial, so they’re willing to pay for it. Excellent remuneration reflecting you level of experience and impact. Quarterly bonus paid on clear KPIs, with detail discussed at interview. Pool car (Perth) or company vehicle/transport options during work hours, plus fuel card. 5 weeks’ annual leave and a full shutdown over Christmas so you can properly switch off.
