About the role As an Infrastructure Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the reliability, performance, security and resilience of NHVR’s critical technology environments. Working within a complex enterprise environment, you will provide Level 3 diagnostics and resolution for infrastructure issues, manage and maintain core platform services, and contribute to the ongoing modernisation of infrastructure capabilities. You will help drive improvements in automation, monitoring, disaster recovery preparedness and operational excellence, while supporting the transition from traditional infrastructure management approaches towards Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC), automation and repeatable deployment practices. This role offers the opportunity to work across a broad range of technologies and platforms, contributing to both operational support and strategic uplift initiatives. Key responsibilities of this role are: Perform advanced Level 3 diagnostics, troubleshooting and remediation activities for complex infrastructure incidents and problems. Manage and maintain enterprise infrastructure platforms, including compute, virtualisation, storage, backup and recovery services. Support the availability, performance and security of critical systems through proactive monitoring, maintenance and optimisation activities. Develop, maintain and test disaster recovery capabilities, including recovery procedures, resilience improvements and regular validation exercises. Contribute to the adoption of Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) and automation practices by developing scripts, templates and repeatable deployment processes. Support the integration of infrastructure changes into structured change, release and deployment processes, including CI/CD-enabled infrastructure delivery where appropriate. Design, implement and administer secure integrations between enterprise platforms, automation services and AI-enabled systems using APIs, Model Context Protocol (MCP) and emerging interoperability standards. Support the implementation, administration and governance of AI-enabled platforms and services, ensuring appropriate security controls, monitoring, auditing and access management capabilities are established. Identify opportunities to reduce operational risk, improve platform reliability and minimise manual administrative effort through automation. Develop and maintain infrastructure documentation, standard operating procedures, technical standards and knowledge articles. Participate in root cause analysis activities and implement corrective actions to prevent recurring issues. Collaborate with internal teams, vendors and project stakeholders to deliver infrastructure improvements and platform enhancements. Contribute to infrastructure lifecycle planning, capacity management and technology refresh activities. Assist with the implementation of security controls to mitigate emerging technology risks, including unauthorised access, data leakage, excessive privilege assignment and insecure system integrations. Your toolkit for success: Experience supporting enterprise infrastructure environments, including compute, virtualisation, storage, backup and recovery platforms. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with the ability to perform detailed root cause analysis and remediation activities. Experience developing automation solutions using technologies such as PowerShell, Python, Terraform, Bicep or similar tooling. Practical experience with disaster recovery planning, testing, validation and operational recovery processes. Experience implementing or supporting infrastructure monitoring, alerting and logging capabilities. Understanding of infrastructure security principles, platform hardening, vulnerability remediation and access management practices. Experience producing technical documentation, operational procedures and support knowledge artefacts. Strong stakeholder engagement, communication and collaboration skills. Highly Regarded: AWS or Microsoft Azure cloud experience (must have at least one). Identity and access management experience, including Microsoft Entra ID and OIDC. Experience with mobile device management platforms including Intune, SCCM or JAMF. Familiarity with the Microsoft 365 stack and associated enterprise services. Experience with unified communications platforms including Teams Calling, Teams Meeting Rooms, Webex or Zoom. Experience supporting enterprise virtualisation platforms such as VMware, Hyper-V, Nutanix, OpenShift or equivalent technologies. Experience with Git-based version control and CI/CD delivery practices. Experience implementing or supporting AI-enabled enterprise platforms, including Model Context Protocol (MCP), API security and secure machine-to-machine integrations.
