Senior Estimator – Water & Wastewater Infrastructure Mascot, Sydney $160,000 - $190,000 & Super Our client is a leading national civil infrastructure contractor with a strong presence across Australia, delivering complex water, wastewater and utility infrastructure projects for major asset owners and government clients. With a healthy pipeline of secured and upcoming work, they are looking to appoint a confident and commercially astute Senior Estimator to join their Sydney-based team in Mascot and play a key role in the continued growth of the business. The Opportunity This is a senior position suited to an estimator who enjoys taking ownership of the tendering process, building strong internal and external relationships, and contributing to strategic business growth. You will be a self-starter with the confidence to work autonomously while also supporting and mentoring junior estimators within the team. Reporting to senior management, you will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive tenders across a range of water and wastewater and transport infrastructure projects. Key Responsibilities Lead the preparation and submission of tenders from initial enquiry through to final submission. Review tender documentation, drawings, specifications and contract requirements. Undertake detailed quantity take-offs and prepare Bills of Quantities (BOQs). Develop pricing strategies and build accurate cost estimates. Obtain and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotations. Identify project risks, opportunities and value engineering initiatives. Liaise with operational teams to ensure practical and commercially sound submissions. Mentor and support junior estimators, helping to develop capability across the estimating function. Participate in client meetings, tender interviews and post-tender negotiations where required. Maintain strong knowledge of market conditions, pricing trends and industry developments. About You Proven experience in a Senior Estimator or Estimator position within the civil infrastructure sector. Previous experience pricing Sydney Water projects or similar water and wastewater infrastructure works . Strong experience undertaking quantity take-offs and preparing Bills of Quantities (BOQs). Strong understanding of civil construction methodologies, contracts and commercial principles. The ability to confidently manage multiple tenders and deadlines simultaneously. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. A proactive, self-motivated approach with the ability to work independently. Experience mentoring, coaching or leading junior estimators. Experience working for a contractor of similar size, scale and project complexity will be highly regarded.
