The Client Spaghetti Tree is a well-known Italian restaurant specialising in authentic Italian cuisine. They are a popular restaurant in the area with a reputation for quality and authentic Italian food. They are looking for an experienced Chef to join their team in Melbourne, VIC. The Role You will have the opportunity to work in a truly dynamic team with the chance to display your creativity in the dishes that you create. This is for a full time role with an annual salary of $80,000 plus superannuation. Responsibilities Preparing, cooking, and presenting Italian-style dishes, particularly pasta and related menu items Planning and organising food preparation to ensure timely service during busy restaurant periods Preparing and portioning ingredients including vegetables, meats, sauces, and pasta components Monitoring food quality, taste, portion control, and presentation standards Assisting in menu planning and contributing to seasonal menu development Ordering and checking food supplies, stock rotation, and minimizing waste Ensuring compliance with food safety, hygiene, and sanitation regulations Maintaining a clean, safe, and organised kitchen environment Coordinating with kitchen staff, including cooks and kitchen hands, to ensure smooth service Assisting with training and supervision of junior kitchen staff where required Working flexible shifts including evenings, weekends, and public holidays as required by restaurant operations Requirements Relevant qualifications in cookery or hospitality and tourism Minimum 3 years of experience in a commercial kitchen Must have at least 3 years' experience with menu planning and new dish planning At least 3 years' experience in Pasta dough making and pasta making from scratch At least 3 years' experience in preparing pasta sauces from scratch Must have at least 3 years of commercial experience in operating grill and cooking over open fire Passion for great food and presentation Understanding of, and commitment to, food safety Experience in kitchen operations and in managing a team Experience in training kitchen staff
